A long time ago I’ve been studying for some materials about Pink Floyd and find out Roger Waters’s comment about The Great Gig. He was told that originally the piece was about birth, live and death and his personal afraidness of dying. In the beginnig you may hear someone thoughts about fear of death (I’m not quite sure who exactly, I recall that was some group manager or technic..) and the final part was much longer than it’s presented here.

I always thought that a performance of this tune would suit a memorial concert at ground zero. The voice goes from tragic and shock (the event) to introspective (trying to make sense of it) to hopeful (that the souls lost are at peace and their memories would outlast the event itself). Any thoughts?? Its just a mental picture that I have of this tune.
